Basically, there are 2 types of Inflation, namely:
- Headline Inflation - Is a measure of the total inflation within a economy, including commodities such as food and energy prices, (eg: Oil & Gas) which tend to be more volatile and prone to inflationary spikes.
- Core Inflation - Represents the long run trend in the price level, in measuring long run inflation, transitory price changes should be excluded. One way of accompanying this by excluding items frequently subject to volatile prices, like food and energy.
What is Index Fund
An index fund is a type of mutual fund with a portfolio constructed to match or track the components of a market index, such as the Standard & Poor’s 500 Index (S&P 500). An index mutual fund is said to provide broad market exposure, low operating expenses and low portfolio turnover.
